michael van antwerp tulsa chiropractor

Dr. Michael Van Antwerp is a specialty chiropractor called a Certified Sports Chiropractic Physician (CCSP). There are only eight CCSPs in Oklahoma, and he is the only one in Tulsa. He has trained with the top extremity chiropractic practitioners in the United States and has developed his own specific shoulder and foot treatment protocols. About half of his practice involves working with extremity issues. Besides athletes, he has a full practice treating a wide variety of patients from infants to seniors.

In addition to his chiropractic degree, he has the additional professions of Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Pedorthist (CPed), and Fellow of the American Society of Acupuncture (FASA). He also has a host of certifications including Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP), Kinesio Tape (CKTP), CrossFit Movement and Mobility, and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT).

Dr. Mike became interested in chiropractic through injuries in mixed martial arts. He later transitioned to marathon running and cycling. He is active in yoga and MovNat. He works with a variety of coaches and trainers in town.

He was Valedictorian of his high school class, summa cum laude in his Bachelors of Biomedical Chemistry, and summa cum laude in his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. He also participated in a research stipend at Dean A. McGee Eye Institute in neurochemistry research for degenerative blindness at the University of Oklahoma’s SURE program. He wanted the ability to treat clinically, so he switched from obtaining his PhD in genetic engineering to obtaining a MD. However, he withdrew from the OU Medical Program to pursue a hands-on healing career without drugs or surgery as a DC.

amy van antwerp massage tulsa

Amy L. Van Antwerp, BCTMB, CCST is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and Craniosacral practitioner who does more than “rub” on muscles. She focuses on specific muscle work to alleviate real causes of muscular pain and tension. She is passionate about getting your body back working for you by listening to your needs and taking inventory of your injuries and pain in order to treat the whole body picture.

“It’s not always about the really deep tissue massage, but more about precision and technique,” she explains often.

Amy has over twelve years of experience as a massage therapist. In her sessions you will find a blend of all her knowledge applied to your particular needs, including Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular, Myofascial Release, Neurokinetic Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy. She likes to walk the line of relaxation meets rehabilitation. Her goal is to relieve your stress and discomfort, and release you back into the world as a thriving human being.

Amy has a long history of being involved in dance and has learned much about bodily care through her own training, maintenance, and recovery from injury.

Amy started reading books on Reflexology, Trigger Point Therapy, and Acupressure when she was sixteen years old. Her mom had brought home a book on Reflexology, and she was quickly fascinated that specific applied pressure to points on the body could stimulate the body’s self-healing mechanisms. In our fast-paced, technologically focused society, Amy values what can be accomplished through the ancient healing art form of touch, using skilled hands for a range of beneficial results.

Amy also holds a B.S. in Professional Writing and Pre-Med. She lives with her two spoiled sister cats, Onyx and Pewter. On occasion, they have to be reminded that they were rescued from the side of the road and now lead a life of privilege.

Diane Van Antwerp is ZOVA’s office manager and the cohesive glue of the clinic. Her ability to do four person’s jobs is astounding, and no matter what, she will greet patients with a welcoming smile. She is also our insurance expert and can help patients with questions about health coverage, auto claims, and worker’s comp. Diane enjoys working with her children (Dr. Mike and Amy), being involved in ministries, and being a gardener extraordinaire. She can pretty much look at a flower and make it bloom. Talk about a giant green thumb.

Katie Ikenberry is ZOVA’s medical scribe. She assists our chiropractors in recording patient chart notes and interacts with patients in her good-humored, professional manner. She enjoys spending time with her four year old and looking at pictures of cats on the Internet. Not future cat lady, current cat lady.
