ZOVA is a physical rehab center with a focus on therapeutic manual therapy and movement.
What is ZOVA?
ZOVA is therapeutic movement. It is designed to take you from pain and get you moving again.
We have the motto: Movement is Life.
ZOVA has roots in chiropractic, massage, acupuncture and rehab with a movement focus.
We love integrating ideas from yoga, physical therapeutics, dance and kettlebells to help our clients move better.
Common activities that we work with are running, cycling, triathlons, dance, martial arts, strength training, CrossFit, basketball and soccer.
However, we are not just sports-based, we are movement-based.
Our goal is to get you out of pain, moving better, faster.
Thus, we see patients of all ages from infants to octogenarians.
Every one of us needs to be able to move. That movement might be a shoulder or back, but it might be the lungs for breathing or the stomach for digestion.
We have appreciated the ideas of Stuart McGill, Gray Cook, Gary Gray, Geoff Maitland, Brian Mulligan, Robin McKenzie, Vladimir Janda, Karel Lewit, Craig Liebensen, Pete Egoscue, Don Harrison, Prague school of Rehab, Ida Rolf, Ido Portal, Nick Tumminello, Kelly Starrett, Naudi Augilar, Bret Contreras, Rafe Kelley, CrossFit, MovNat, Darkside Strength, Juggernaut Training Systems, Breaking Muscle, Mark Cheng, Mike Reinold, Charlie Weingroff, Eric Cressey, Katy Bowman, Tom Myers, Jean-Pierre Barral, BKS Iyengar and many others.
We are based in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the heart of Green Country.
By the way, where does the name come from? The name ZOVA was created for the uniqueness and balance of what we do. It is simple, rolls off the tongue and the letters fit beautifully together.

Meet the ZOVA team
Dr. Mike Van Antwerp, Amy Van Antwerp and Dr. John Keefe, IV make up the core ZOVA team of healthcare providers. They have many years of combined experience in body work with expertise in chiropractic, massage, acupuncture and exercise. Their genuine focus has been about patients and getting them better. They are involved in the Tulsa community in multiple activities and stay connected with local events. All three are from the Tulsa area and came back to practice in their local community. The great thing with ZOVA is seeing a provider you actually know and cares about you.
We also have many great support staff to help get you better from Diane and Yanira for front desk and insurance to Lindsay and Mai for exercise therapy.
We are constantly learning new techniques in body work and therapeutic movement to get people better, faster. Some of the techniques are modern approaches to chiropractic, manual medicine techniques that don’t involve “popping,” dry needling for athletes, cupping for IT band problems, NKT, GRIP Approach and new recovery exercises. We do a lot of travel to learn new techniques as well as constant book and online study.
Some of the best pain recovery is from knowledgeable body workers who are well-versed in a variety of chiropractic, massage, manual therapies and therapeutic exercises. These don’t always lend themselves to a fancy Instagram or blog posts but are the keystone to a good physical rehab center. That being said, we are always trying out new technologies and integrating them into our practice if we find them truly beneficial to the patient. Some of the new technologies we have found useful are spinal decompression traction, modern acupuncture and dry needling, vibration platforms, compression boots, cupping, edge tools, posture evaluation programs, gait analysis, taping and therapeutic exercise equipment.
At the beginning of our careers we were just chiropractors, massage therapists and trainers. From this seed we have grown into a mighty tree with many branches of bodywork and therapeutic movement. These include Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), Certifed Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certifed Pedorthist (CPed), Certifed Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP), Craniosacral Therapy, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP), Extremity Chiropractic, MovNat trainer, Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT), Global Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention (GRIP Approach), Active Release Technique (ART), CrossFit Movement and Mobility, Fellow American Society of Acupuncture (FASA), Motion Palpation Institute (MPI), Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), Ankrum Institute, Masters of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance, Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (BCTMB), Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release.
Care for the Whole Family
We treat a wide variety of patients from infants to seniors. We are a sports-specialized clinic but this translates well into helping a baby crawl, helping a pregnant mom relieve sciatica set off by a tight piriformis muscle, helping a grandma by able to squat and pick up her grandbaby. We have training in Webster technique which is used to help mobility of the sacrum and pelvis in case of a breeched baby. We help with slumped posture that happens when on a computer all day. We see younger athletes who have scoliosis and are competing in gymnastics and dance. We work with a variety of ages training for marathon running and race walking. We help sales associates relieve tension from being in cars and planes all day.

You’re In good Hands
Our ultimate goal is to help you get better.
Sometimes with pain and dysfunction, it can feel like you’re on a roller coaster. Some days it improves, with other days feeling like it worsens. We hear this from different patients.
Our focus is to listen to what has worked or not worked in the past, find out the the mechanism of injury, develop a conservative treatment plan if it determined we our the right practitioners for your case, and make overall improvements as your care develops.
We do not prescribe year-long treatment plans. The reason for this is we want to adapt to you as your care progresses. We want to have a shortened timeframe in case we need to order imaging such as MRI or refer to other providers if we need to.
The majority of our patients respond well to ZOVA conservative care and avoid lots of imaging, many different medications and irreversible surgery.
Our treatment plans are set up usually over the course of four weeks. We do this so we can make steps to get you out of pain, start mobility and strengthening exercises to help maintain the improvements, and re-evaluate within a shorter time.
We are a family-based practice and consider our patients as part of our family. We strive to treat you as the unique, special person you are.
‘My treatments were different every time I came in and were tailored specifically to my needs. He provided me with education, giving several exercises and stretches to maintain health on my own. My progress was real and almost immediate, only taking a few visits.’ – Carey
‘I had been seeing another doctor for an injury I incurred during a marathon and was not getting better. I met Dr Mike, and he fixed not just the injury but my other back problems. I refer everyone to him.’ – Lesley
‘I was told by my orthopedic that running was not advisable for me because I have severe knee degeneration. I decided to try to run anyway and first came to see Dr Mike because I wanted to run injury free. I am happy to say that I have successfully completed several 5k and 10k races, The Tulsa Run and a Half Marathon all without injury.’ – Connie
‘My daughter had been participating in training and competitions for gymnastics for about six years. She had begun to experience pain in her feet, ankles and legs from the stress placed on her muscles and frame from training and competing. After just a few treatments, she began to notice significant improvement and reduction in pain. Not only did Dr Mike assist her pain reduction but he also gave her confidence to learn higher level, and more demanding skills.’ – Beverly
‘He has helped me from running that very first half marathon to training and running over 15 half marathons and 5 full marathons. Needless to say, I would not be able to continue to run if it were not for his excellence assistance and care.’ – Gloria
‘I came to ZOVA because of lower back pain, knee pain after surgery, and shin pain. After a few months of adjustments and massages, I went from doing nothing into playing basketball full time! My pain level went from a 8 to a 1. I also received strengthening and stretching exercises to help speed up my recovery. I now recommend ZOVA to all my friends and teammates.’ – Joy
‘A great doctor that knows what he is doing. I am so pleased and am going back to New York feeling like a new person. I thank God for Dr Mike and Oklahoma.’ – Lucy
‘He and I work as a team to find the best solutions for my health. Because of his expertise and use of various techniques and other health producing modes such as high quality supplements, rock tape, physical exercise, and acupuncture, I have experienced and increase in health and mobility.’ – Linda
‘I had seriously injured my left shoulder in June, and the injury had developed into a very painful and limiting frozen shoulder condition. I had already experienced this same condition in my right shoulder, and I had undergone two surgeries to and more than a year of therapy to correct the condition in that shoulder. Not wanting to spend years and thousands of dollars on expensive and painful traditional therapy, I decided to take the advice of a friend and visit Dr Van Antwerp. The severe pain I had been experiencing was relieved after about four visits. Six months later I have no pain and about 80 percent of my range of motion restored. I am continuing to improved daily and expect to achieve full restoration of motion as result of the initial therapy and ongoing commitment to exercise that is helping to return my shoulder to normal working order.’ – Rhonda
‘He has always been honest with us, and if he didnít believe his treatment was working he let us know right away and helped refer us to someone that he thought could help.’ – Nikki
‘I have been to several chiropractors and have never experienced great results than ones Iíve experienced here. Not only is Dr Mike a great doctor, but he really cares for people and their wellbeing.’ – Shannon
‘His office is warm and his staff is extremely pleasant and personable. He strives to build a relationship with his patients, regardless of age, and is child friendly.’ – Tonya
‘Very gentle with adjustments, doesnít hurt you any.’ – Lisa
‘One of my daughters had some nerve issues in her foot, and he was able to successfully restore her mobility.’ – Nikki
‘When I first started to come to his practice I was in my twenties and had serious neck and back problems that stemmed from untreated injuries in my youth. Consequently this was also affecting my heart (by murmur and palpitations) and stomach (IBS), and I was having migraines every day. I have been to many chiropractors across the nation, but none gave me the care and results that I have received from him. He has provided a custom treatment for me as opposed to being confined to ëtext bookí. He took my pain and discomfort seriously and took extra care to relieve my pain.’ – Tonya
